British Council launches IELTS scholarship for Indian students

Jalandhar: In the backdrop of a decline in number of Indians opting for International English Language Testing System (IELTS), the British Council on Saturday launched a scholarship for students in the country who wish to study abroad.

The British Council will select "eight students" from India and each of them would get an award of Rs 3 lakh towards the cost of tuition fee, Kevin Mclaven, First secretary, education services, British High Commission, told reporters. The programme is being launched in three countries simultaneously including India.

We are pleased to announce the Goa Education Trust (GET) scholarship 2016 for Indian students applying for a Master’s Programme in the UK beginning in September / October 2016.

The candidate eligibility:

  • Identify a suitable Masters programme in the UK beginning in September / October 2016 (Proof of admission / application will be required at the time of the interview).
  • Be an Indian national with valid Indian Passport and must be in India at the time of applying for the Scholarship.
  • Be not more than 30 years of age at the time of applying.

Scholarships will fund young Indians to pursue a Masters in the UK and will cover part or full tuition fees not exceeding GBP 12500.
